This coming weekend we're at Waxy O'Shea's Irish Pub in Branson MO, it's that LAST weekend of Christmas in Branson, and I'm sure you all have heard about how cool Branson is during the Christmas season. Right?!
February 4th we're in Dallas, and March 2 we're at the VooDoo Lounge at Harrah's Casino Kansas City. More news on both these events coming soon!
It's starting to get crazy, get'yer PIRATE ON y'all !!!!
Oh, and Merry Christmas!! :))
11/5/11
TONIGHT!!
Join us at Waxy O'Shea's Irish Pub in BRANSON, MO!!

10/24/11
So yeah...
In January we told you 2011 was the year of the Pirate, and sheesh, what a year it's been! We're so happy to have been given the opportunity to perform so many new places this year and we're so incredibly thankful for all the support we've been shown. Absolutely amazing. Thank you.
Our "Faire" season has come to a close, but we're not finished yet! We've still got two months left in 2011 and we're taking it inside during these colder months. See us this Fall/Winter at Waxy O'Shea's Irish Pub in Branson MO, twice, Saturday Nov 5th and Dec 17. We'll also be back in St Louis Saturday November 19th at The Crack Fox bar. Then, we'll finish it up right in Wilber Nebraska at the Historical Fox Hole Tavern on New Years Eve!
What else is new you ask? What else has happened this year? LOTS! 2011 has presented us with a couple of different agents working in our corner that have proven themselves to be invaluable assets, booking us shows that we never could've gotten on our own. We're hoping more and more continues to come of this!
Oh, and now that the "America's Got Talent" season is over, I guess we can talk about THAT! Here's the deal; we auditioned for the televised talent show late last year. They loved us. We were told if we'd not yet heard from them by January to call them. Then, in a surprising turn of events, they called US in November! We were shocked! They told us we were in! And, I'm paraphrasing here, but they said that we had been selected by the NBC executives in LA to appear on the program. They congratulated us and then said, first, however, the "reel" must be sent to "Simon" (the executive producer) for final approval, but that "this was just a technicality", that we're "in" and once again "congratulations".
We never heard anything back from them. :\ Lol, such is life. ;)
What else... Oh yea, we picked up a new member, Joe Heller (aka Sven Helgrim) who plays upright bass. His demanding "real" job will keep him away from time to time, but he'll be joining us at every possible opportunity. ALSO, our guitarist, George Hunt (affectionately known as Salty Peter Johnson) and his lovely gal Breezy Armstrong just had a baby together. A beautiful baby girl, "Piper Shae Hunt", 6lbs, 14oz, 18inches, born October 23rd, 6:52am. Congratulations to them both!!
See you at Waxy's in Branson, Saturday November 5th!! :)

St. Louis Pirate Festival here we come!!
We're simply LOVING this late summer/early fall renfest season, as we're getting to travel to four different Faires! We started off two weekends ago at Minnesota Renaissance Festival and had an incredible time! Then, just this last weekend, we performed at Kansas City Renaissance Festival, our hometown Faire! KC is always a blast and the weather was perfect!
By the way, if you missed us in KC we'll be back at KCRF in a few weeks (Oct 1,2 AND last weekend of the KC Faire Oct 15,16).
But now it's time to BRING ON THE PIRATE'S!! Our next THREE weekends (Sept 10-25th) we'll be performing at the St Louis Pirate Festival, and wow, what an incredible lineup for stage acts! Axel the Sot, The Scallywags, The Steele Sisters, 3 Pints Gone, Chuvani Bellydance (woof!) & Sheherazade, Swords & Roses, Sea Dogs, just to name a few... oh, and of course Musical Blades! ;)
Also, don't forget, October 8-9 we'll be at the Great Plains Renaissance Festival in Wichita KS! It's been a few years since we did the fall festival in Wichita and we can't wait to see everyone again!
One more reminder, we're wrapping up our renfest 2011 season with a HUGE BASH at Danny's Bar & Grill in Lenexa KS on October 15th, which happens to be the SATURDAY night of the FINAL weekend of Kansas City Renaissance Festival 2011. Danny's is located 15 minutes (or so) from the Faire site. This is a mic'ed performance party, hosted by yours truly (umm, us, Musical Blades). We can't wait for this, our BIGGEST after-party yet!! End of the Faire Season Blowout!
Danny's Bar & Grill (Lenexa, KS)
Wait, backup... A GRAND FINALE to finish off the season?! Yup!! Last year, you may recall, we did weekly after-parties at Waxy O'Shea's Irish Pub, and celebrated each Saturday night, all seven weekends, of the KC Ren Fest. We didn't really perform, other than some impromptu stuff out on the patio, it just gave us a chance to hang out with friends and fans.
In 2011 we've taken on sooo much more, performed so many new areas, and our late summer/early fall lineup this year has us at four different festivals instead of just one. So this year we thought we'd change it up a bit and offer up the biggest, baddest, after-party yet!! A brand new venue, located in a clean, safe, convenient location. Great sound, great stage, great lights! You're going to love this bar!! We can't wait to hit the stage at this place!!
Join us, Oct 15th, at Danny's Bar & Grill in
Lenexa, KS!!
8pm-Midnight. It's an 18 and over show, BUT with legal guardian, 18 and

BUSY YEAR!!
Had an incredible time in Battle Creek Michigan at the Silver Leaf Renaissance Festival over the weekend! We got to hang out with fans that we haven't seen for awhile and we made lots of new friends, and of course sharing a stage with Tortuga Twins was a blast! AND, like we do, we buddied up with other performers like, Abby Green, and also The Village Idiots... tons of fun! We'll be back August 6 & 7, and can't wait to return!! :)
But geez do we have some stuff planned until then!! Join us this coming weekend (Sat. July 16), in Branson MO, as Pirates (us) once again invade the original Waxy O'Shea's Irish Pub, easy to find on the Branson Landing! Performance time 9pm-1am. Kid's welcome until the kitchen closes at Midnight.
Next, the weekend after that, the first "pirate themed" grub & grog we've ever performed at! Summer's here and Musical Blades will be at the lake, Lake of the Ozarks to be exact, at Jolly Rogers Grub & Grog (Fri, July 22). This show's going to be off the piratical chain!
THEN, the following night (Sat July 23), we'll be back in the Kansas City area once again, at another new venue, "The Beach - Bar & Grill" in Shawnee KS, where a $5 dollar door charge will get you open Volleyball on 18 Sand Volleyball courts and an outdoor, under the stars, mic'ed, piratey performance! :) Different than anything we've ever done before!! Dress appropriately for some good summer fun!!
Lots more... Our performance dates (<--left hand column) are always being updated. Hope to see you at show soon!! :)

Bad News
Regretfully, we are losing long time member and great friend, Jason Longberg (Cutthroat Cookie). Jason is stepping down due to family and new mundane job. Though this is sad news for both the Blades, as well as Jason, we respect his decision and desire to spend more time with his child, as well as pay his mortgage. ;) We wish him nothing but the best in his endeavors. We all remain great friends, and expect him to pop up on stage with us from time to time. :) – Musical Blades

GSLRF ROCKS!
I know, we've said it before, but it deserves repeating, the Greater St Louis Renaissance Festival is truly an awesome Faire! The crew, the cast, the merchants, the stage acts, but most importantly, the patrons! It's one of those Festivals where you can just tell that people show up to have a good time.
We just got finished with our first weekend at GSLRF, and yes, the weather was chilly and rainy all weekend, but that didn't stop people from showing, and it sure didn't stop us! It was perhaps some of the most off the wall improv insanity we've ever had on stage! ;) We had a blast hanging out with everyone in the low 40 degree rain, and we even introduced 5 or 6 new songs! Maybe a couple more this next weekend!
So yea, three more weekends at GSLRF, but that's not all we're doing during our stay in the St Louis area this year. We'll also be performing the evening of Saturday May 28, at Maggie Malone's Irish Pub in Wentzville with our good friends 3 Pints Gone! Plus, we'll be performing at The Firebird, Friday June 3, in downtown St Louis with The Randy Dandies Burlesque girls (woof!).
We have a brand new CD at GSLRF this year entitled Modern Day Pirate (released Dec 2010), AND we have our first ever DVD entitled WTF?! (Where's the Funny?!), just released May 2nd, 2011, and yes, it's every bit as goofy as we are... and then some! Not only that, if you're out at one of our St Louis area shows, don't forget to pick up a flyer for PiratePalooza, or for that matter pick up a ticket for PiratePalooza, as we have tickets available at our shows, and of course, tickets are also available here at our website, or via ticketmaster (Shhh, don't tell anyone, but tickets are much cheaper if you get them here at the website, or at our shows, versus getting them through ticketmaster). Oh, and it's possible we might even have some all new Musical Blades paraphernalia available during the GSLRF run...
Long story short, we're so happy to again be in the St Louis area! Thanks to everyone for your continued support! :)
5/10/11
St Louis Renaissance Festival THIS WEEKEND!
The next four weekends we'll be kickin' it in ol' St Louie! We're soo excited to once again be at this festival! We look forward to it every year! Hope lots of you can make it out! Five shows daily (Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day)!
Lots of stuff this year! After our St Louis performances we'll take a couple of weeks off to prepare for PiratePalooza KC, taking place June 25th, which I know a lot of you are planning to attend. This show is going to be a blast! There'll be four performing groups at this show (Musical Blades, Bawdy Boys, Beerside Scoundrels, and Ogrot), and it's at the perfect venue for this type of event! Bring cameras, it's going to get crazy! One of our biggest shows of the year! This is an 18 and over show. Oh, and our new DVD will be five bucks off at PiratePalooza KC!
After that, we'll have performances in Battle Creek Michigan, Branson MO, Lake of the Ozarks, Eastern Iowa, and lots more! Stay tuned...
Planning on coming to a show soon? We'd love to meet you, come up and say hello! :)

The home spun mockumentary from Musical Blades.
We've been telling people about this new DVD of ours, set for a late Spring release, for a few weeks now, but the question we've been hearing most is, "What is this DVD all about?" or "What kind of DVD is this?" So, without further adieu, allow us to explain. WTF?! is, above and beyond anything else, a "mockumentary".
Mockumentary: 1.) A fictional film that is in the style of a documentary and pretends to be a documentary. A mock documentary. 2.) A fake documentary - very often comedic in nature - done with a lot of tongue-in-cheek "seriousness" and often closely mimicking an actual documentary.
WTF?! is "home spun", meaning we sat down over a few ales and grog and said, "You know what would be funny?... What if we did something completely different? What if we took collected performance footage of Musical Blades, and sprinkled it in over the course of a 2 hour mockumentary, ala Spinal Tap, but instead of the movie being about a rock band, it'll be about a group of Pirates, from the midwest, that think they're really Pirates of yore, albeit in a VERY anachronistic manner... A group that enjoys McDonalds, big screen TV's, and a lighted stage, but at the same time think they live on a Pirate ship, Circa 1742. We'll have an interviewer (G. Leslie Peawhipple) who, intrigued by this group that is obviously out of touch with reality, sets out to make a name for himself as a respected journalist. Will the Pulitzer Prize be in his future, or will he instead have a nervous break down? And what's in it for this band of Pirate misfits who have agreed to these interviews?"
So... we then proceeded to write a script outline, and soon after called in the help of a few ex-blades members to play a part, also calling on Brad Torres of Ogrot/Beerside Scoundrels to perform the interviews, and soon, with camcorders in hand, began shooting what would become WTF?!. 15 hours of footage was then whittled down in our trusty video editor, over the course of a couple of months, to 2+ hours of footage that makes US laugh! 2+ hours that may in fact leave YOU asking, "WTF?!"
Is it dumb?... Is it silly?... Of course it is, have you met us?! Is it low-budget? You betcha! Is it funny? Well... it depends on your sense of humor. We think it's hilarious! ;) Visit the official WTF?! movie page for more information and movie trailers!

Busy year, and more coming...
We had a blast at The Crack Fox in St Louis last Saturday night! A big thanks to everyone that put the show together, and an even bigger thanks to the dancers and our guest drummer Matt Lenger who sits in with us from time to time! A few sound problems in the beginning of the night (it happens :P), but all was worked out and the place was packed and jumpin! Thanks to everyone that made it out!
We're looking forward to all the new shows we've added to the 2011 performance calendar (left column), including a newly added show at Jolly Rogers, a Pirate themed bar and grill, right on the lake, at Lake of the Ozarks!! And lots more coming! We told you 2011 was the year of the pirate! ;)
Don't forget, PIRATEPALOOZA tickets are only discounted during the month of April. Get'em now and save five bucks! If you're any kind of Pirate enthusiast at all, or wonder what this whole "Pirate thing" that you keep hearing about is all about, this is the show to see! Pirates, Land Pirates, Irish Pirates, and copyright infringement Pirates, PIRATEPALOOZA has it all!! ;) More info...

Musical Blades on FM Radio... How'bout that?
Sunday, 2/27 we did our first ever Radio interview/performance on KKFI 90.1 FM, and it was a blast! A big thank you to radio personality, Jeanne Jasperse for having us on!
We were able to get the audio from the show, so we thought we'd offer it up here on the website. The audio's not the highest quality, but we figured a few of you might still want to hear it. :) (Note: She started with our volume low, but soon turned us up, as you'll hear) LISTEN NOW
Don't forget, we'll be at VooDoo Lounge KC in a little over a week (March 11, 2011). Tickets available right here at musicalblades.com, or via ticketmaster, or at the door the night of the show. More info in the blogs below, or here.

Musical Blades to perform the VooDoo Lounge KC
* Newly added to the event page; driving directions, parking, and hotel and restaurant information. Click Here -->
We are incredibly honored to have been asked to perform the VooDoo Lounge, Kansas City's premier concert venue/nightclub! This will be a show like none other we've ever been a part of. We're told the lights and sound system here are second to none, and the service is spectacular!
We wanted to do something different for this show, so on a whim we decided to ask Kansas City Celtic Rockers, Flannigan's Right Hook, to do the show with us... and they said yes! Flannigan's Right Hook perform all over the area, including Barley's Brewhaus, KC Public House, Kyle's Taproom, O'Dowd's on the Plaza and O'Dowd's Zona Rosa, Crosstown Station, Tomfoolery's on the Plaza, Llywelyn's Pub, Kelly's Pub, Dark Horse Tavern, Raglan Road and more! We couldn't be more excited to have them join us. We think it's a great match-up, and it's both bands first time at the VooDoo Lounge.
Note: This is a huge venue (1500 occupancy), the largest we've played, with tons of seating and an incredible atmosphere. Not to mention a casino and hotel all in the same building. Which is great for those coming in from out of town, or those just wanting to make a "night" of it. Hell, we'll probably stay there too! But, being that it is such a large venue, we need your help!
Please help us spread the word so that we can get a good crowd. It's our first time playing at VooDoo, and we'd love to make a good first impression, as well as have a chance to return in the future. :)
Never seen us before? This is the perfect time, at an incredible venue! Have seen us before? Never like this! Bring a friend, or ten, with you! Partake in Rum and Guiness! And enjoy a Pirate and Irish take on Kansas City nightlife!
Tickets on sale NOW at all Ticketmaster outlets, or, as usual, you can avoid Ticketmaster charges by ordering virtual tickets directly from our website, at the top of this page, or via THIS LINK.
$8 in advance/$10 at the door DOS
VooDoo Lounge is located in the Harrah's Casino (North Kansas City) 1 Riverboat Drive, North Kansas City, MO 64116

Musical Blades on YouTube
It's been a long time coming, and yes, fans have been posting videos of us all over YouTube for awhile now, but we decided to post a few ourselves. There's going to be a lot more in the future, so allow us to direct you to our official YouTube profile page, or "Channel" as YouTube calls it. Here we'll post... what we think is postable.... ;)
www.youtube.com/musicalblades This is our newest area, and we'll be uploading to this Channel in the future. Simply because the URL is easier than our older YouTube site....
www.youtube.com/musical2blades And yes, that's our, still active btw, older YouTube site.
Here's the videos we just uploaded. Feel free to spread them across the globe... in fact we encourage it!.... :)

2011 is here!
National hangover day is officially over, and our New Years Eve show at Waxy O'Shea's Irish Pub was amazing. Thanks to all those that attended (THE PLACE WAS PACKED!), and thanks to special guest Beerside Scoundrels and Ogrot!
We're now preparing for the coming year, working on new songs, new skits, booking new shows, etc. We'll be taking a break from performing the Kansas City area until summer 2011, as we head out on the road to Wichita KS, Muskogee OK, and St Louis MO, but when we return to KC, an event big enough for pirate fans all over the country...
This summer 2011... Prepare to be boarded!
<-- Performance schedule updated in left column, lots more updates coming shortly! Happy New Year everyone!
