Medieval 1. Relating or belonging to the Middle Ages. The term Middle Ages was invented by people during the Renaissance, a period of cultural and literary change in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. The term was not meant as a compliment. During the Renaissance, people thought that their own age and the time of ancient Greece and Rome were advanced and civilized. They called the period between themselves and the ancient world "the Middle Age." The adjective medieval comes from the Latin words for this term, medium (middle) and aevum (age).

  • The Medieval Knight - In days long past an elite group of men fought for king, country, and the code of chivalry. Here I've written a short column detailing the chivalric medieval knight.
  • Days of Yore - In this section we take a look at our history, both true and maybe-maybe-not true.  With any luck Days of Yore will contain mostly history that is not as well known (stuff not found in school books), but I will occasionally tap into topics well documented that interest me.
  • Medieval Links - The web is a very resourceful place for medieval and renaissance information. If you can't find what you're looking for here chances are some other medieval site will have it.
  • Medieval Torture - It is quite amazing the inventive and creative lengths our fellow forefathers would go to in the category of torture. How one person could've done some of these things to another human being leaves me speechless. Especially considering many tortures were done in the name of God. This section is not for the squeamish.
  • The Taste of Medieval - Planning a medieval get-together? Well you can't just throw a few hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill, can ya? Here's the food they ate in days of yore.

Renaissance 1. A rebirth or revival. The word renaissance means "rebirth." The idea of rebirth originated in the belief that Europeans had rediscovered the superiority of Greek and Roman culture after many centuries of what they considered intellectual and cultural decline. The preceding era, which began with the collapse of the Roman Empire around the 5th century, became known as the Middle Ages to indicate its position between the classical and modern world.

  • The truth about the Renaissance - Kings and Queens, Knights on their glorious steeds laying siege to nearby castles. You've heard it all before, but the real truth behind the renaissance is the way the period changed history with a rebirth of ideas, art, and architecture
  • Renaissance Architecture - All the web links I could find and about 70 book links. If you're doing a study on Renaissance Architecture, look no further!
  • Women of the Renaissance - Coming soon!

Fantasy -  1. Imagination unrestricted by reality  2. An imagined event or sequence of mental images, such as a daydream, usually fulfilling a wish or psychological need. From role-playing to fantasy women, and from dragons and fairies to werewolves and mermaids. Go ahead, step out of reality for awhile.

  • ROLE-PLAYING The main focus in the role-playing section is on AD&D but there are links and information for other role-playing systems as well.
  • Women of Fantasy
I have made it my personal  responsibility to do an in-depth study on Women of Fantasy <grin>.  Soon to be the most popular area here at this web site!
  • King Arthur and Merlin - Legend or Lore
King Arthur Pendragon and his knights of the round table, Merlin the magician, were they real? This section will try to answer that very question.
  • Dragons!
Tales of dragons are found in the most ancient text, they've been detailed on ancient pottery and the walls of Egyptian tombs. Did they actually exist? Find out more...
  • Werewolves
Beware, for there is a full moon this eve and no one is safe. Indeed, the story is probably as old as time it's self. Shapeshifters. Oh no not just werewolves. Please, let me explain...
  • Do you believe in Fairies?
Of course you do, don't you? After all Fairies have been documented time and time again in our history. We even have actual pictures of them, don't we?
  • Mermaids
Take one part human and one part fish and you get a creature so beautiful that sailors throughout history would jump into the sea and drown just trying to get their hands on one.
  • Vampires
Okay, I've already done the vampire chick pictorial in the Women of Fantasy section. Now it's time to delve into a little history on the vampire. Let me see what I can dig up...
  • Art and Artist
The fantasy paintings and drawings and the talent the creates them. Amateur, professional... it's all good!
  • Trolls
Once upon a time, long ago and far away, the people of Scandinavia told stories of secretive gnome-like folks who inhabited the nearby caves and forests as well as the walls and rafters of their home.
  • Unicorns
A fabled beast, pure white in color, having the head and legs of a horse and a long, twisted horn set in the middle of its forehead. Symbolic of holiness and chastity, the unicorn was prominent in tapestries of the Middle Ages. It has been widely used in heraldic signs.

Everything Else - 1. A phrase meaning, in this case, that the following sections cannot be solely lumped into one of the  medieval, renaissance, or fantasy sections above. 2. The following sections are generally period but can not be generalized by one category.
